Many of our staff have been with Step 2 for a number of years, testament to our supportive, family culture.
We strive to constantly develop and recognise how the impact of our work is subject to being as contemporary as young people’s fast-moving pace of life and culture.
As such, we also have a wealth of experience in creating successful placements for degree and masters level students and can also offer great volunteering opportunities.

I joined Step2 in December 2024 as a newly qualified counsellor. I was in the very fortunate position of being able to take my time in finding an employer whose values aligned closely with my own, this was extremely important to me as I took these first steps after changing careers later in life.
After almost two years here, I am very pleased to say that Step2 genuinely lives its values. From the outset, I have felt welcomed, respected and supported by colleagues who are committed to providing the best possible service for children, young people and their families. Step2 fosters a culture of learning, reflection and professional development, where staff are encouraged to grow in confidence and make use of their individual strengths.
Throughout my time at Step2, I have been given the space, time, framework and support to develop my own professional practice. Regular supervision, access to training opportunities, and the encouragement of my supportive line manager have enabled me to build both my skills and confidence as a counsellor. I have felt trusted to work autonomously while also knowing that guidance and support are always available when needed.
Looking back on my journey since joining as a newly qualified practitioner, I can see how much I have grown both professionally and personally. Working at Step2 has provided a strong foundation for my development, and I continue to feel privileged to be part of an organisation that values its staff and invests in their growth and most importantly to me, puts young people at the heart of everything they do.
